The recently published Bitkom Cloud Report 2025 makes it clear: There is growing concern in the German economy about excessive dependence on cloud services from abroad.
For virtually all companies surveyed (97% see chart), the country of origin of their cloud provider is important. 92% prefer providers from Germany.
The reasons are clear:
- Reliable data protection in accordance with EU standards
- High IT security requirements
- Legal transparency and compliance
- And last but not least: the desire for independence from geopolitical risks
